Western Sydney have announced the signing of Japanese international Yojiro Takahagi for the rest of the 2014/15 season.Known to fans in Japan as Yojiro, the attacking midfielder has over 250 appearances for J-League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima and was a key player when they won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.
Capped internationally with the Samurai Blue, the 28-year-old will wear the number 10 jersey for the Red & Black.
CEO John Tsatsimas said Yojiro is the type of player fans will enjoy watching.
“We are very pleased we have been able to include Yojiro into the squad for the rest of the Hyundai A-League season,” said Tsatsimas.
“Yojiro is a very experienced and talented attacking player who plays an exciting brand of football fans will love.
“With caps for Japan, plenty of ACL experience and at 28 years old we have a player that is hungry for more success, something as a club we are all striving for.”
Starting his youth career at Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Yojiro joined the senior ranks and, aside from a one season loan to then J-2 side Enhime FC in 2006, was a consistent first team player who made over 250 appearances for the club.
