WSW ACL | Round of 16 information

The Wanderers will travel to Japan to take on Sanfrecce Hiroshima on 7 May before the return leg in Western Sydney on 14 May.

Following their emphatic 5-0 win over Guizhou Renhe, the Western Sydney Wanderers have finished top of Group H and qualified for the AFC Champions League Round of 16.

Not only was the five goal margin the biggest ever ACL win for an Australian club, it also marks the first time a Hyundai A-League club has finished top of their group on their first attempt and only the second to do it overall.

Playing the runner-up of Group F over two legs, Western Sydney Wanderers will take on J-League 2013 Champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima, who deposed of the Wanderers semi-final opposition, Central Coast Mariners on the final matchday of the group stage.

Tony Popovic played over 70 matches for Sanfrecce from 1997 until 2001 so will be relishing a return to a club where he is still revered when the Wanderers play the first leg of the tie on Wednesday 7 May at Hiroshima Athletic Stadium.

The return leg will be on Wednesday 14 May with Parramatta Stadium the likely venue.

Kick-off times are yet to be confirmed with 7:30pm (local time) the most likely scenario.

Ticketing details will be announced as soon as they become available.
