BEST XI: Hyundai A-League Team of the Week - Round 18

Melbourne City 2-1 Melbourne Victory

Melbourne City ensured bragging rights over their local rivals with a hard-fought win in an entertaining clash at AAMI Park.

Goals from Florin Berenguer and Jamie Maclaren had City in control before a late blunder from keeper Thomas Glover gifted Victory a late lifeline, which they were unable to capitalise on.

Perth Glory 4-2 Wellington Phoenix

Two of the Hyundai A-League’s form sides delivered a six-goal thriller in the west, with Olyroos attacker Nick D’Agostino the hero.

D’Agostino scored either side of the break as Glory raced to a 3-0 lead before Phoenix came back, although Bruno Fornaroli iced the result at the death.

Brisbane Roar 2-1 Adelaide United

Brisbane Roar relied on two first-time Hyundai A-League goal scorers to surge into the top six with a come-from-behind win over Adelaide United.

Ben Halloran put the Reds in front at Suncorp Stadium before substitute Mirza Muratovic and skipper Tom Aldred turned the tide in the home side’s favour.

Newcastle Jets 4-3 Central Coast Mariners

With new manager Carl Robinson watching from the stands, the Jets lifted some of the gloom from a tumultuous season with an entertaining win over their closest rivals.

Dimitri Petratos struck a superb double and Nikolai Topor-Stanley got a rare goal as the Jets picked up just their second home win of the campaign to go level on points with the Mariners.
