Western Sydney Wanderers have announced the signing of former Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Liam Reddy until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.
An accomplished shot-stopper with almost 200 Hyundai A-League appearances to his name, Reddy will join the Wanderers goalkeeping group under the guidance of goalkeeping coaches Zeljko Kalac and assistant Davide Del Giovine.
Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas welcomed Reddy to the Club in a region where he got his professional start as a footballer.
Mariners and Reddy part ways
“Liam is an experienced goalkeeper who we welcome to the Club,” said Tsatsimas.
“He started his career with Parramatta Power and Sydney United so it is a homecoming of sorts and we look forward to having him getting to work with our group and adding to the quality we have in our squad as we continue to push for the A-League Championship this season.”
Reddy said that his move to the Wanderers was like a return to his roots.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity of working and learning under Tony Popovic and Spider (Zeljko Kalac) who will no doubt improve me as a player and a professional both on and off the park. I have worked with Spider before and I am very excited to work under him again.” said Reddy.
“Returning to Western Sydney is like coming home, a lot of my family and friends live in Western Sydney, I started my career at Pirtek Stadium so the opportunity to come full circle is fantastic - it feels like I’ve come home again. I’m looking forward to getting down to work and do my best to help the Club win more silverware.”
The 34-year-old shot stopper will wear number 30 and joins the Club officially tomorrow for his first session with the group.
