Wanderers need killer instinct: Ikonomidis
Young attacker Chris Ikonomidis has called on Western Sydney Wanderers to develop a greater cutting edge in front of goal.
Wanderers were held to a 1-1 home draw by Perth Glory on Sunday despite the visitors having goalkeeper Liam Reddy sent off in the 87th minute.
The result was enough to keep Josep Gombau's men two points ahead of seventh-placed Brisbane Roar in the race for a Finals Series spot.
However, of current top six teams, only Adelaide United have scored fewer goals than Western Sydney's 28.
"A little bit of satisfaction but more disappointment," Ikonomidis said of the result in a post-match interview with Fox Sports.
"We play for the win every week here. We've got the quality, we've got the players, and we want the three points.
"We need to score more goals, that's the end [objective]."
Ikonimidis, on loan from Lazio, turned in another lively performance at Spotless Stadium as he continues to impress in the Hyundai A-League.
The 22-year-old has already won six international caps but brushed off talk of his potential inclusion in the Caltex Socceroos squad to be named this week.
"I just focus on my football with my club. Obviously if that goes well then everything else goes well," he said.
