Western Sydney Wanderers have put together a polished performance to win their Round 14 National Youth League match against Brisbane Roar 4-0 at Cook Park.
The home team got off to the perfect start, opening the scoring in just the third minute with a well-worked goal.
Tarek Elrich found space on the right wing, and his cross was deftly laid off by Daniel Barac with Jason Trifiro hammering the shot past Fraser Chalmers in the Roar goal.
An Elrich free-kick after 15 minutes nearly doubled the home side's advantage, but Chalmers was on hand and made a fine save.
The next good chance again fell to the Wanderers after 31 minutes when Barac turned his defender in the area, his shot forcing another sharp save from the Roar 'keeper.
This was to be the start of a period of sustained pressure from the Wanderers, with a Jacob Williams' header from a corner moments later forcing yet another save.
The pressure finally told after 34 minutes.
With the Roar defence holding off in midfield, Yianni Perkatis fired the ball into the bottom, left-hand corner from 25 yards to double the home side's advantage.
With three minutes remaining in the first half, the Roar had their first real opportunity.
Do Dong-Hyun beat his defender with some quick footwork and his cross was met by Matthew Thurtell at the near post, but his shot sailed inches wide.
In the second minute of time added on, Wanderers nearly had a third with Barac beating his man at the top of the penalty area, his shot forcing the under-siege Chalmers to tip the ball over the crossbar.
In the second half, Western Sydney continued to press in defence, leaving the Roar midfield with no time on the ball.
This pressure led to turnovers and the Wanderers were able to deny Brisbane any meaningful chances in front of goal.
With half an hour remaining, the Wanderers posted their third.
Mark Cindric swivelled past his man at the top of the area, and when no defender came to meet him, he turned and rifled the ball into the bottom corner.
With 18 minutes remaining, Roar's Kwame Yeboah was sent off for his second yellow card.
Moments later the Wanderers put the result beyond doubt when Rocky Visconte found space in the area and fired in the home team's fourth to round out the scoring.
