Italian giants Juventus, EPL club Tottenham and Melbourne Victory have reportedly been confirmed for the International Champions Cup to be played at the MCG in 2016.
Although the ICC hasn’t officially tweeted the news, the Herald Sun reported that these three clubs have been signed for the lucrative pre-season tournament in Melbourne next year.
The tournament is set to be played in the last week of July.
Victorian Sport Minister John Eren told the Herald Sun: “The International Champions Cup is fast becoming a flagship date on our calendar of events and the 2015 instalment of the ICC shows it’s a hit with visitors and a boost to the economy.”
It’s expected the fourth team for the tournament in Melbourne in late July will be named in February.
Earlier this year, a stunning crowd of 99,000 saw Ronaldo’s Real Madrid play in the ICC at the MCG against Manchester City, a game in which the Spanish side thumped the EPL outfit 4-1.
The inaugural tournament in Australia last July, which also featured Roma and Manchester City, attracted a total of 220,000 fans to the iconic venue and strong ratings on Channel 9.
