New Hyundai A-League outfit Western United FC have continued their signing spree on Monday, confirming the addition of defender Jonathan Aspropotamitis.
Just hours after they announced Connor Pain and Joshua Cavallo as new recruits for their debut 2019/10 campaign, Aspropotamitis put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal.
The 22-year-old joined the Mariners at the start of the 2018/19 Season from Western Sydney Wanderers.
After missing the early part of the campaign recovering from an ACL injury, Aspropotamitis has become a regular in the starting side for the Gosford club, making 13 appearances.
“I came to the Mariners part way through my ACL recovery and I’ll be forever grateful and appreciative of the support I got from everyone here, firstly for giving me the opportunity to come here and secondly for the support I received right through my recovery,” Aspropotamitis told the Mariners’ official website.
“I’d like to say thank you for the ongoing support they showed me, especially in the time that I was recovering from my injury, I will always have a soft spot for the Mariners and my time here will always be something I’ll never forget,” Aspropotamitis said.
Western United FC assistant coach John Hutchinson added: “In Jonathan Aspropotamitis, we have a young central defender that has played over 50 first team games at two A-League clubs.

Aspropotamitis is the 11th player signed by Western United FC, including Greek marquee Panagiotis Kone and Caltex Socceroos defender Josh Risdon, ahead of their maiden season in the Hyundai A-League in 2019/20.
