Melbourne Heart have confirmed that veteran Dutchman Gerald Sibon will play his final game for the club this weekend.

Sibon will not be offered a new contract by the club despite telling Dutch media that he wanted to extend his stay in the Hyundai A-League and will join Josip Skoko and John Aloisi in retiring after Saturday's home game against Sydney FC at AAMI Park.

"We were very happy with Gerald's input and the important role he played in our first year as a start-up club. His experience was invaluable in mentoring the younger players," coach John van 't Schip said.

"Gerald's vision, touch and ability to draw others into the game were fantastic and the club has been pleased with his contribution. Throughout his time at Heart, he showed just why he was able to have such a successful career in Europe."

Sibon turns 37 in April and has weathered constant injury issues to be one of the fledgling team's most influential players this season. He has played a variety of midfield and striking roles and has scored seven goals.
