Rojas has been outstanding as the Phoenix surged into the playoffs and was delighted to receive the award.

“It is fantastic. I didn-t expect this,” Rojas said as he was told of the award at the team-s Adelaide hotel.

Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert said it was a big moment both for Rojas and the club.

“Marco has worked hard in the last few months and this is a nice reward for him,” Herbert said.

Rojas joins other monthly winners Chris Payne (North Queensland Fury), Luke DeVere (Brisbane Roar), Aziz Behich (Melbourne Heart), Mustafa Amini (Central Coast Mariners), Matt Ryan (Central Coast Mariners) and Mathew Leckie (Adelaide United) as nominees for the major award.

This season NAB have generously donated over $20,000 to junior football clubs nationally in gratitude for their work in developing Australia-s next generation of elite footballers. NAB will continue in their support of young players with a grand prize of a $10,000 managed banking portfolio going to this year-s NAB Young Footballer of the Year.
