Reno Piscopo named December Nominee for the Young Footballer of the Year

Wellington Phoenix attacker Reno Piscopo has been named the Hyundai A-League's December nominee for the Young Footballer of the Year.

The 21-year-old has been a key contributor for Ufuk Talay’s side during their impressive eight-game unbeaten run in the Hyundai A-League.

Having joined the Phoenix from Italian Serie C side Renate ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, Piscopo took a little while to settle into his new surrounds but started all five of Wellington's matches in December.

The youth international, who is currently with the Australian U-23 squad at the AFC U-23 Championship, was one of Phoenix’s most creative players.

He created multiple chances in wins over Adelaide United (Round 8), Western Sydney Wanderers FC (Round 9) and Western United FC (Round 12) as Phoenix moved into the top four.

But his standout performance came in the 2-2 draw with Sydney FC in Round 11 where he scored Wellington’s opening goal before providing the assist for Ulises Davila’s strike.
