Signing news: Oar becomes Macarthur FC's first signing

Tommy Oar has been announced as Macarthur FC's first ever signing and will join the Hyundai A-League's newest club for the 2020/21 campaign.

Oar will become a foundation player for the competition’s latest expansion club, who enter the Hyundai A-League next season managed by Westfield Matildas boss Ante Milicic.

The 28-year-old has featured in 22 Hyundai A-League matches for the Yellow and Navy over the past two seasons after moving to Gosford in 2018 following a two-season spell with APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus.

The 28-cap Socceroo will cross New South Wales to join the Bulls on a two-year deal after his contract with Alen Stajcic’s side expires at the end of the current campaign.

“I worked with Tommy at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and was impressed by his attitude and application to his work,” head coach Milicic said.

“He’s played many times for the national team, has experience playing overseas in Holland, and of course is very familiar with Hyundai A-League.

“Tommy will fit perfectly into the style of play we want at Macarthur FC.

“We’ve said all along that we want good characters and good people at this club and Tommy certainly sets a standard in that regard.”
