No Glory for Heffernan

Dean Heffernan's stay at Perth Glory has been short-lived with the former Melbourne Heart and Central Coast full back coming to a mutual parting of ways with his new club.

The two-time Qantas Socceroo representative had only just joined the club in the off-season after an unsuccessful stint at Heart, but had been on loan with Chinese club Liaoning Whowin.

He has now opted to stay in China, with Glory granting him a release from his newly-signed deal.

"We wish Dean all the best, but there are other areas of the squad I would now like to bolster," Perth Glory coach Ian Ferguson said.

Heffernan has led a nomadic footballing existence since leaving the Mariners to take up a short-term deal with League One outfit Huddersfield Town.

That was an attempt to stay in line for Socceroos selection for the World Cup, but he failed to win favour from then national coach Pim Verbeek and returned to play with the Heart in their inaugural campaign.

He made just 13 appearances at the Heart with Aziz Behich winning favour ahead of him before leaving for the Glory.
