Brazilian striker Maycon Carvalho Inez has signed a one-year deal with the Melbourne Heart.

The Hyundai A-League's newest side unveiled the signing of their third Brazilian on Tuesday, with the forward to join compatriots Fred and Alex Terra at the club.

Maycon, who has been signed from Brazilian club Nova Iguacu, is a player Heart coach John van't Schip believes can make a big impact at the club.

"We are excited to have Maycon with us and he brings some great technical and striking qualities to the squad," van't Schip said.

"Maycon is more of a traditional number nine with a good penalty box sense, a very good work ethic and at 24 years of age, a lot of improvement ahead of him."

"With the signings of (Mate) Dugandzic and (David) Williams, Maycon provides real depth and variety to our attack and another option in the front third."

The new-look attack should help the Heart in their quest for more goals in their second season, with van't Schip's side having only scored 32 goals in 30 games during their last campaign on their way to an eighth-placed finish.

Maycon netted six times in the recent Rio de Janiero State Championship and will join the Heart after an impressive season for Nova Iguacu.
