Matchweek 5 preview: Melbourne Victory v Perth Glory

Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory meet at AAMI Park on Tuesday night in the final fixture of Matchweek 5, with both sides eager to bounce back from respective losses and keep pace with the A-League leaders.

Perth and Melbourne have played just two games each in the 2020/21 A-League campaign to date - the joint-least in the competition.

Victory sit at the foot of the table after back-to-back losses to start the season, while Perth approach the contest after a 5-3 win and 5-4 loss in their first two entertaining and simply outrageous fixtures to begin the new campaign.

While Richard Garcia's Glory outfit have played with electricity in attack and frailty in defence Victory have found it much harder going on the front foot, scoring just one goal in their two losses to date.

Perth's early defensive woes suggest Victory have a chance to improve on their offensive inefficiency on Tuesday night, but finding the back of the net will be no easy task with Grant Brebner confirming star recruits Rudy Gestede and Callum McManaman will miss the Matchweek 5 fixture through injury.
