Match preview: Sydney FC v Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar’s tough Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Season gets no easier when they visit an in-form Sydney FC side on Saturday evening.

The Sky Blues sit third after an impressive 2-1 win at Perth Glory in Round 9, a result that extended their winning streak to an incredible nine matches against the Western Australia-based side.

They do not have a similar hold against the Roar, though, despite Sydney FC’s recent Hyundai A-League dominance.

Of the last nine games between the two sides, Sydney and Brisbane have won three apiece and there have been three draws.

The Roar were shocked with the news of John Aloisi's resignation on Friday morning, just over 24 hours before their clash with Sydney FC.

And with four losses on the trot, Brisbane will have to regroup as quickly as possible for the forthcoming challenges.

Sydney FC striker Adam Le Fondre will be out to continue the Roar’s defensive woes, the English forward having netted seven times in nine Hyundai A-League fixtures.

Key Opta stats

  • Only three of Sydney FC's 17 points in this campaign have come from home. This was in their Round 2 Derby against Western Sydney Wanderers, where they won 2-0 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
  • Adam Taggart's six goals make up 60% of Brisbane's overall goal tally. No other player has a higher contribution rate to his team.
  • The last time Brisbane Roar lost four consecutive games was in late 2011, which was the start of their 36-game unbeaten streak under Ange Postecoglou.
