Versatile defender Michael Marrone is set to finish his Hyundai A-League career with Adelaide United after signing a new deal with the club on Thursday.
The 32-year-old was off contract at the Reds at the end of the season but has penned a one-year contract extension.
“It’s a great feeling knowing my future is here in my hometown,” Marrone told Adelaide's official website.
“I’ve always been heavily invested in the club and I want to always see us doing well."
Marrone, who started his Hyundai A-League career in Adelaide in 2008, has been a pillar of the Reds team since re-joining the club from in 2014.
He has made 161 appearances for the club in all competitions over those two stints and has been a model of consistency.
Able to play both at right-back or in central defence, Marrone has been involved in Adelaide's most successful squads, helping deliver two FFA Cup titles as well as a historic Hyundai A-League Premiership-Championship double in the 2015/16 Season.
“I loved winning another trophy earlier this season in the FFA Cup and I’m hopeful of more success later this campaign and next," Marrone said.
“I’ve represented the Reds for many years and I’m excited to be part of achieving even more with this great club.”
Marrone, who is set to start against league-leaders Perth Glory at Coopers Stadium on Friday night, has featured in 22 matches this season and registered two assists.
