New recruit Jacob Melling has made a big impression since joining the Central Coast Mariners, both on and off the pitch.
While regarded as one of the toughest midfielders in the Hyundai A-League for his rugged displays in the middle of the park, Melling showed a softer side recently.
In an incredible gesture recently, the 22-year-old – who was waiting for a coffee - noticed a patron at a local café was having trouble paying for their breakfast using their eftpos card.
While the patron went outside to call their bank to sort out the issue, Melling kindly paid for their breakfast before leaving.
It wasn’t until the patron got off the phone – with Melling long gone - that they realised what the Mariners hard man had done.
Take a bow Jacob!
While Melling’s kind deed didn’t go unnoticed, you can be sure he and the Mariners won’t be quite as accommodating on the pitch when Western Sydney Wanderers head to Gosford on Sunday.
Paul Okon’s can draw level with the seventh-placed Wanderers with a win at Central Coast Stadium.
