Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe believes his side “can beat anybody” in the Hyundai A-League Finals Series if they clean up their defensive shortcomings.
The top-four hopefuls copped a 4-1 loss away to Melbourne Victory on Saturday night and are now statistically the competition’s leakiest outfit.
While praising the opposition for their killer instinct, the Glory boss claimed two or three of Victory’s goals could have been avoided.
“In the lead-up to them we could have eradicated that opportunity and that’s what we need to be better at,” Lowe told Fox Sports.
“Going forward we create chances, we score goals, but definitely defensively we just need to get rid of really basic errors.
“But when [Victory] had opportunities they were really clinical and finished them off with quality. You can’t argue with that.”
Despite the blow to Glory's hopes of a home final, Lowe is unfazed by what is only a second defeat of 2017.
“We’re in a good space. We’ve done ever so well,” he said.
“We take heart in some things and then we’ve got to work on some things when we go back [to Perth].
“We can beat anybody if we get to the Finals.”
