Young striker Kusini Yengi has been promoted to Adelaide United's Hyundai A-League squad, signing a scholarship contract with the Reds.
Yengi has been a consistent performer with the club's Youth Team in the South Australian NPL, bagging three goals for the Young Reds and also netting for the senior side in a friendly against MetroStars.
The 20-year-old has all the attributes for an accomplished striker, with a strong physical presence, natural athletic ability, and a keen eye for goal.
He'll also add more depth to the Reds' attacking ranks, joining the likes of import Kristian Opseth and young gun Al Hassan Toure.
"I’m very excited to have signed this contract and to get the chance to continue developing my game here at Adelaide United," Yengi told the Reds' official website.
“I’ve been working pretty hard over the last few years and being involved with the first team here is a great accomplishment.
“Training under Gertjan and the coaching staff since the start of pre-season has already been really beneficial for me, but I know I have a long way to go still.
“I’m a forward so hopefully I can get a few appearances and score a couple of goals and make the fans happy.
“But, as a team we’re going to try and win as many games as we can and bring as much silverware as we can home to the club.”
Adelaide United Director of Football Bruce Djite added: "Kusini is a dynamic, powerful forward and a clinical finisher in front of goal.
“What is equally exciting about him is that he is yet another talented player from our youth set-up that has worked hard and deserves his promotion to the first team.
“As Kusini is well aware, this is just the start of the journey and the hard work begins now.
“This is just one of the many milestones along way of becoming a fully-fledged professional and he has to continue his progress.
“We’re confident that he will continue to grow and we’re looking forward to helping him develop as a footballer and a young man in the coming years.”
