The independent Match Review Panel comprising Barry Such (Chairman), Alan Davidson and Simon Micallef convened this afternoon to consider three red card offences from Round 12 of the Hyundai A-League.

The independent Match Review Panel comprising Barry Such (Chairman), Alan Davidson and Simon Micallef convened this afternoon to consider three red card offences from Round 12 of the Hyundai A-League.

Terry McFlynn (Sydney FC) was issued with an R6 red card for "use of offensive, insulting or abusive language against a match official." The Match Review Panel imposed a sanction of one (1) match, which is the minimum sanction for this offence under the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations.

Joel Griffiths (Newcastle Jets) was issued with an R2 red card for "violent conduct when not challenging for the ball". The Match Review Panel proposed a sanction of two (2) matches, which is the minimum sanction for this offence under the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations.

Mark Milligan (Newcastle Jets) was issued with an R3 red card for "serious foul play". The Match Review Panel first considered a challenge to the red card made by Milligan. The challenge was dismissed. The Match Review Panel proposed a sanction of two (2) matches, which is the minimum sanction for this offence under the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations.

The Match Review Panel also considered the reaction by Karl Dodd (Wellington Phoenix) to the offence committed by Joel Griffiths referenced above. The Match Review Panel accepted that, as the matter did not escape the attention of the referee, it had no jurisdiction to intervene.
