Who do your A-League club face in the final four rounds? Check out our league-wide fixture run-in and we predict how many points each club might win as the Hyundai A-League Premiership race enters the final turn.
Team: Brisbane Roar
Current position: first
Fixtures: City (a), Sydney (h), Jets (h), Victory (a)
Prediction: Roar have fluctuated from sensational to abysmal this season but look to have once again hit their straps. A semi-final at Suncorp would be a just reward for their efforts, and they should get it with nine points from the next 12 our prediction.
Team: Western Sydney Wanderers
Current position: second
Fixtures: Adelaide (h), Victory (a), Mariners (h), Phoenix (a)
Prediction: A relatively easy run home should see Tony Popovic’s side shore up a top-two finish. Having been beaten in two grand finals in the last three years Western Sydney will be desperate to go one better this term. Ten points from the next 12.
Team: Adelaide United
Current position: third
Fixtures: Wanderers (a), Mariners (h), Sydney (a), City (a)
Prediction: Ended their unbeaten run last time out following their remarkable climb from last to first. It’s a shame the Reds missed out on ACL football given their form reversal, but will fancy themselves in the finals. Seven points from next 12.
Team: Melbourne City
Current position: fourth
Fixtures: Brisbane (h), Phoenix (h), Perth (a), Adelaide (h)
Prediction: Some huge six-pointers coming up for City as they prepare to play finals for just the third time in the club’s history. They can finish the season strongly with three of their last four games at AAMI Park. Nine points from next 12.
Team: Perth Glory
Current position: fifth
Fixtures: Phoenix (a), Jets (a), City (h), Sydney (a)
Prediction: Plenty of air miles still ahead but they’re a real chance of finishing in the top four. So much to like about Kenny Lowe’s side right now, with their clash against City shaping as crucial. Ten points from next 12.
Team: Melbourne Victory
Current position: sixth
Fixtures: Jets (h), Wanderers (a), Phoenix (a), Brisbane (h)
Prediction: Similar to Sydney FC, Kevin Muscat’s side will have to juggle a tricky run home with ACL commitments. They’ll need to bounce back from their weekend hammering but two wins should be enough to remain in the finals spots. Six points from next 12.
Team: Sydney FC
Current position: seventh
Fixtures: Mariners (a), Brisbane (a), Adelaide (h), Perth (h)
Prediction: The Sky Blues haven’t claimed three points since Round 15 and simply must win this weekend. They face Glory in the final round. That could be one heck of a clash as the finals race reaches its pinnacle. Four points from next 12.
Team: Newcastle Jets
Current position: eight
Fixtures: Victory (a), Perth (h), Brisbane (a), Central Coast (a)
Prediction: The Jets have to win all of their remaining matches to be any chance of sneaking into the finals. It seems pretty unlikely after back-to-back losses, with an F3 Derby in the final round their best chance of some late-season joy. Three points from next 12.
Team: Wellington Phoenix
Current position: ninth
Fixtures: Perth (h), City (a), Victory (h), Wanderers (h)
Prediction: It’s a tough run home for the ‘Nix with all their remaining matches against top six sides, though three out of the four are on NZ soil. Three points from next 12.
Team: Central Coast Mariners
Current position: tenth
Fixtures: Sydney FC (h), Adelaide (a), Wanderers (a), Jets (h)
Prediction: Hard to see them get anything from Wanderers and Reds away. Could pick up points against a fatigued Sydney FC on Saturday and gain a measure of revenge on the Jets on the final day. Three points from next 12.
