Hyundai A-League best player of Round 1

How could we not pick the Irishman? Jets' Roy O’Donovan was the standout performer in Round 1 with a stunning return to his former club.

The new signing for Newcastle Jets, lured from Central Coast in the off-season, absolutely bossed the F3 Derby on Saturday with an extraordinary 31 minute hat trick (the third fastest in A-League history) during a helter-skelter first half in Gosford.

Not only that, O'Donovan helped assist the other two goals for his side by Dimi Petratos and Joe Champness in a comprehensive 5-1 smashing of their nearest rivals.

Congratulations Roy, it was a fabulous display and that's why you are the first Best Player Of The Round for the new season.
