Heffernan stars as Mariners sink Wanderers in Coffs

A hat-trick from trialist Dan Heffernan has helped Central Coast Mariners to an entertaining 3-2 friendly win over Western Sydney Wanderers in Coffs Harbour on Friday night.

The towering striker, from PS4 NPL club Heidelberg United, netted three times in the space of five second-half minutes to hand Tony Walmsley’s side a commanding advantage.

The Wanderers hit back with goals to Romeo Castelen and Josh Macdonald but the Mariners held on for a confidence boosting victory.
