Perth Glory and Newcastle Jets have played out an entertaining 0-0 draw to conclude the Westfield W-League season at Members Equity Stadium on Sunday.

Both teams created good chances in warm conditions in Perth, but were unable to break the deadlock despite 28 shots on goal between the teams.

Newcastle now finishes the season in second-place and will face Canberra United, who finished third with Queensland and Sydney FC playing off in the other semi-final.

Perth finished seventh in the inaugural season with three wins and two draws from the 10 games.

Both sides were able to get forward well in the first half in an open game, but neither was able to capitalise on some good chances.

Perth's Lisa de Vanna had the best of the opportunities. The first came when she had a clear shot from just outside the box and the second was an even better chance.

In the 21st minute, she got in behind the Jets defence and only had 'keeper Alison Logue to beat but her shot went along the ground and just wide.

Both sides continued to pepper the goal, but the shots were either sailing well wide or over, or when on target not seriously testing the 'keepers.

Newcastle's best chance to break the deadlock came when Joanne Peters played in Katie Gill, but Gill's shot sailed over in the 37th minute.

The second half began in much the same but the longer it went, the closer the Jets, in particular, came to scoring an elusive goal.

Newcastle continued to push forward to have the Glory defence under siege with Gill and Peters looking especially dangerous. Gill's best chance came when she struck a shot well but right at Glory 'keeper Luisa Marzatto. On the rebound, Peters had a shot but Marzatto was able to glove it.

De Vanna also had a third terrific chance of the game when she got hold of a strike from just outside the box, but it once again sailed just wide.

Both teams had chances late in the contest but it was the same story with the shots so close, but alas so far. The Glory's final shot on target came in the 89th minute from Stacey Learmont, and the Jets had one in injury time from Emily Van Egmond but they failed to find the net.

A late corner for the Glory failed to produce a result as well as referee Lee Corey blew full time.
