German superstar 'loves' Roar and wants more

In great news for fans across the league, Brisbane Roar star Thomas Broich has confirmed he wants another season at a club he loves.

Considered by many to be the Hyundai A-League’s best-ever player, 36-year-old Broich doesn't want to hang up his boots just yet.

His enduring quality on show again last weekend, earning him a spot in the Hyundai A-League Team of the Week.

“I consider being a footballer a gift," he told the Courier Mail.

“I enjoy every single day of it and it's almost like the older I get, the more I appreciate it.

“As long as I have an impact on how things go, I feel like playing on,” he said.

I'LL STAY IF THEY WANT ME TO STAY

Broich is off contract at the end of the 2016/17 campaign with negotiations to take place with boss John Aloisi at the end of the season.

“Ultimately it's the club's call,” added Broich.

Brisbane Roar striker Jamie Maclaren celebrates scoring with teammate Thomas Broich.

“All I can say is that I love this club, I love playing for this club, I love playing football and I still feel that I can influence things and have a big impact on the way we play.”

GET BROICH ON THE BALL

Broich’s vision, skill and commitment to the Brisbane club have made him a cult hero at Suncorp Stadium.

The German knows his limitations, but still feels he has plenty to offer.

“I've been useless out of possession my entire career.

“If I have to defend for long periods and play on the counter, I don't have the pace.

“But if we want to boss teams and move the ball around, that's my bread and butter.

“I still feel inspired and creative, and it shows again.

“As long as that is the case, I don't see any reason why I should hang up my boots.”

A STRING OF SILVERWARE AND SUCCESS

Broich was lured to Brisbane by Ange Postecoglou ahead of the 2010/11 Hyundai A-League season, helping them win their maiden A-League Championship.

When Roar repeated that success in 2011/12 and 2013/14, Broich was front and centre, winning the Johnny Warren Medal in both seasons.

He has also been named Brisbane’s player of the season three times.
