The Newcastle Jets have agreed to the release of attacking midfielder Marcos Flores to pursue an opportunity with an overseas club.
Flores has been offered a long-term contract overseas and the club has agreed to release him from the remainder of his contract.
“Marcos has worked hard to get himself fit and back in contention for the first team, but the offer he has received from overseas gives him security so in the best interests of the player we have decided to grant this release," said Jets coach Phil Stubbins.
"Marcos is a passionate and proud footballer and everyone at the club wishes him all the success in his next move."
Flores thanked the club for their support during a difficult period in his career.
“I will always be grateful to Newcastle Jets for believing in me during the most difficult time of my career. I have nothing but love and respect for the club, fans and staff and I will never forget the opportunity Newcastle Jets gave me," said Flores.
“I will leave Newcastle Jets with great respect. I want to thank every member and supporter at the Newcastle Jets that showed faith in me and this is something I will always have in my heart”.
Marcos Flores made 73 Hyundai A-League appearances scoring 17 goals including 6 appearances and 1 goal for the Newcastle Jets.
