Fans flock to watch Jets train ahead of Grand Final

Newcastle Jets players have trained in front of hundreds of fans as Grand Final fever ramps up in the Hunter ahead of Saturday night’s Hyundai A-League grand final against Melbourne Victory.

Just four days out from the club’s biggest match in a decade, Jets boss Ernie Merrick threw open the gates at the club’s base at Ray Watt Oval on Wednesday morning to allow fans the chance to see their heroes go through their paces.

It’s been a remarkable season for the Jets, who are aiming to become the first team to go from finishing bottom last season to champions 12 months later.

The Newcastle community is getting right behind their side, with the Grand Final selling out on Monday.

A crowd of around 30,000 is expected to cram into McDonald Jones Stadium, with the majority hoping the Jets can add to the lone Championship the club won back in 2008.
