EXCLUSIVE: Perth Glory import on Spaniards in the Hyundai A-League and taking on Ronaldo
He’s part of the Spanish influx into the Hyundai A-League and becoming a key member of Perth Glory’s midfield.
And with a decade’s experience playing in La Liga against some of the best players in the world, it’s not hard to see why Xavi Torres is so highly-regarded by Glory boss Kenny Lowe.
The 31-year-old has been one of Glory’s best all season, playing 15 games in the heart of midfield, scoring two goals and possessing a passing accuracy of almost 83%.
We caught up with Torres as part of our “Extra Time” series, discussing everything from playing against the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in La Liga, to the increase in Spaniards in the Hyundai A-League.
“It’s nice because in Spain the players, we are talking about the Australian league,” Torres told www.a-league.com.au.
“It’s because the league is improving a lot, so for Spanish players it’s a pleasure to play here.”
