EXCLUSIVE: Brosque opens up on facing Tevez, his footballing inspirations and Sydney FC’s yoga ‘master’
He’s skipper of the best team in the Hyundai A-League and at 34 is arguably still playing the best football of his career.
Things haven’t been much better for Alex Brosque, the boy from Western Sydney staring for the Wanderers’ biggest rivals.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s top of the table clash against the Newcastle Jets, we caught up with former Caltex Socceroos attacker as part of our “Extra Time” series.
Brosque spoke about his admiration of Harry Kewell as a youngster, the joker in the Sydney FC squad while he reveals an unknown softer side.
And he said there was no doubt who was the best he’s played against during his impressive career.
“One would have to be Argentina in the Olympics. That squad was a joke really,” Brosque admitted.
“They went through undefeated without conceding a goal all tournament. Obviously they won gold and Carlos Tevez stood out for me.
“He’s not that tall but he was impossible to get the ball off and just so sharp and quick with the ball at his feet.”
