Transfer news: Ex-Jets goalkeeper joins former Victory defender at new club

Former Newcastle Jets goalkeeper Jack Duncan has officially signed for Saudi club Al-Qadsiah FC.

The former Australian U23 international left the club's pre-season training camp in Murcia, Spain earlier in the week to finalise the move.

Duncan made 19 appearances for the Jets last season, keeping four clean sheets as Ernie Merrick's side reached the Grand Final for the first time in a decade.

He'll now link up with former Melbourne Victory defender Rhys Williams, who was signed by the Saudi club earlier in July.

“I made my A-League debut with the Jets, the club has given me so much,” Duncan said.

“This is a great opportunity to develop my career and one that I couldn’t pass up.”

Jets coach Ernie Merrick wished the 25-year-old well in an exciting new chapter for the Perth-born gloveman.

“I’m extremely disappointed to lose Jack, but he’s been offered an opportunity that he wants to pursue,” Merrick said.

“At his age and with his ability, I think Jack has the potential to go onto big things and I wish him the very best with the next step in his career.”

The Jets continue their pre-season preparations with a match up against Saudi club Al-Fayha Wednesday night.
