City capable of 'something special' this season: Arzani
Melbourne City young gun Daniel Arzani says there is a strong belief that the club can ‘achieve something special’ in this year’s Hyundai A-League Finals Series.
After finishing third in the regular season, their best-ever return, City now host Brisbane Roar in an Elimination Final clash at AAMI Park on Friday night.
And Arzani, 19, believes City have a real opportunity to cause some damage in the post-season.
“I’m very excited personally. I know the buzz around the camp at the moment is very excited as well,” Arzani told reporters on Wednesday.
“I think we can do something special this year.
“We’ve been very solid this year. Especially coming in towards the end of the season, defensively [we’ve been solid] – I think that gives the boys a lot of confidence.
“We can actually do something this year. [I’m] very confident in that.”
After a breakout season with City yielded two goals and three assists, Arzani is set to start in his first-ever A-League final against the Roar.
But despite being arguably the biggest game of his short career, the teenager insists there are no nerves ahead of the knockout clash.
“I think everyone likes playing under a bit of pressure – me as well,” Arzani said.
“It brings out the best in you and hopefully it does on Friday night as well.
“[I’m] Not nervous. I’d say more excited. You get a few butterflies and you just want to get out there and play already,” he added.
