Sydney FC captain Alex Brosque says the pursuit of Hyundai A-League records is the driving motivation behind the premiers’ unfaltering form.
The Sky Blues made it two from two since sewing up the premiership with a surgical 3-0 win over Melbourne City on Saturday night.
“We’ve made a point to keep doing what we’ve been doing because it’s been working well all season,” Brosque told Fox Sports.
“Obviously we need to take momentum into the finals but also there are a lot of records up for grabs which we’re continuing to break.
“That’s what we’re striving for at the moment.
“Tonight was a clinical performance, a ruthless one as well, and a great one against a very good Melbourne City side.”
Alongside a host of other records, Sydney can break Brisbane Roar’s high mark of 65 points in a single season if they pick up four more across the remaining two rounds.
Brosque has been a central figure in his side’s success, registering his 10th goal of the season with the opener in Saturday night’s victory.
“I’ve been stuck on nine for a fair few weeks so I thought it just wasn’t going to happen for me,” the former Caltex Socceroo smiled.
“Very happy to put the boys in the lead tonight, get the goal and set us on our way.”
