Thomas Broich says after leaking nine goals in two games, Brisbane Roar need to fix their defensive mentality, adding they can’t rely on other teams dropping points as they chase the Premiership.
Roar lost 3-0 away to Adelaide on Saturday making it back-to-back losses for the Orange Army.
After last week’s 6-3 loss in Perth, Broich wants the team to switch back on defensively with Roar's top two hopes in some jeopardy.
“We copped six last week, three today. And we had a good chance to go joint top again [today],” he told ABC radio.
“It’s quite disappointing right now… we need to solidify that [defensive record] again.
“We’re good enough going forward always creating chances.
“We didn’t score today but we’re always creating chances and we scored three last week but our work-rate defensively and the level of concentration...
“We need to make sure we win all the one-on-one battles and be a bit more switched on again."
Broich was left on the bench against the Reds due to his inability to finish the team’s training session on Friday.
He was replaced by Henrique in the starting XI at Coopers on Saturday.
But with two of the goals conceded due to turnovers, Broich knows Roar need to switch back on immediately with some huge games left in the run-in to the finals.
“We can’t rely on other teams, the last few weeks teams have been dropping points for fun. But that won’t go on forever,” added Broich, a multiple championship winner with the club.
