Bobo v Berisha: Big Blue battle of the strikers
It’s the latest incarnation of the Killer B’s.
In Saturday night’s blockbuster Hyundai A-League semi-final, Besart Berisha and Bobo will carry the goalscoring hopes of Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC as they meet in a sudden-death showdown.
We look at how the two master marksmen compare…
GAMES AND GOALS
Both players have featured almost identically for their teams this season with Berisha playing 2264 minutes (26 games, all starts) and Bobo 2250 (27 games, 26 starts).
The Brazilian has scored a record-breaking 27 goals this season; all came from inside the penalty area with 14 right-footed strikes, five with his left foot and eight headed goals.
Berisha hit double figures for a seventh straight season, netting 14 times so far, also all from inside the box, mixing eight right-footed goals with two headers and four left-footed efforts.
Eight of Bobo’s goals were penalties, while just two of Berisha’s came via the spot.
In his A-League career, Berisha has now scored 116 goals in 184 matches (a goal every 1.59 games) while Bobo now has 42 goals in 56 games (a goal every 1.33 matches).
Bobo fired off 79 shots at goal during the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season and Berisha 50.
Bobo’s accuracy was slightly better, hitting the target with 64.6% of his shots, compared to Berisha’s 62%.
Bobo provided six assists for his Sydney FC team-mates, while Berisha set up five of Victory’s goals.
In all, Bobo created 30 chances across the season and Berisha 21.
Berisha was fouled significantly more often than Bobo, winning 43 free-kicks to 29.
Berisha played slightly more passes with 611, compared to Bobo’s 599.
However, the Kosovo international was far more accurate, finding a team-mate with 76.3% frequency, compared to 67.3% for the Brazilian.
In the opposition half, Berisha’s accuracy was 71.3% and Bobo’s 63%.
Both players were booked just twice this season.
Bobo conceded just 23 fouls compared to Berisha’s 50.
