Melbourne Victory striker Besart Berisha has given a glowing reference for the club's newest signing, Jai Ingham.
Ingham officially became a Victory player on Tuesday, and Berisha, who played with the 22-year-old former Hume City winger in Brisbane, believes he can slot in seamlessly.
“I personally have high expectations about him. He is a great, young player,” Berisha told the media at Simonds Stadium in Geelong on Wednesday.
“He’s very quick, and a very technical, strong player. We’re all really happy he signed for us, and hopefully he gets an opportunity on Friday night.
“It was not meant to be for him in Brisbane. There are similar players (to him) in Brisbane and we don’t have similar players like him here.
“I hope he finds his luck here. I believe in him. I hope he can help us to now pick up more points.
“He’s good one-on-one, he’s dynamic, and he’s very quick with the ball. Things like this can help with our game. He brings everything we need.”
Victory defeated the Mariners 2-1 in Round 7, but lost its last Simonds Stadium match, against Perth Glory last season.
“It’s important that we look at our game, how we play,” Berisha said.
“We know Central Coast can be very dangerous. They had a lot of opportunities against us at home at AAMI Park.
“We have to look after ourselves, play our game, and hopefully we can get a good result.”
Berisha said the players were looking forward to the support of the Victory fans in Geelong this Friday night, with over 21,000 turning up to last season’s fixture at the venue.
“It’s always good to be in Geelong. The support here (last season) was really great. We’re happy to be back,” he said.
“It definitely makes a difference to have our crowd here. They give us a lot of motivation.”
