Backing the boys in blue

Adelaide are leaking plenty of goals right now and the Victory are set to take advantage. The message buy Archie Thompson!

Another week of Fantasy Football looms and I might have been off the mark about sacking Danny McBreen thanks to a late goal last week, but I-m determined to make up for it this week.

So what-s the good word then? It-s simple really back the men in Blue, specifically those who play in the final third.

I-m speaking less about Sydney FC and more about Melbourne Victory, Ange-s men are on fire and coming off yet another derby win, they-re sweeping all before them right now and will look to continue that trend in the cross-border derby against the Reds, where to be honest they have all the guns.

Adelaide may have got home in a 3-2 thriller the last time the two teams were at Hindmarsh Stadium but that was a different Adelaide. Back then the Reds were flying high, the coach hadn-t just quit citing the board as the reason and they had form.

Right now Michael Valkanis-s team are struggling for any form, leaking goals (11 in their last four matches) and there is a genuine dislike for the board from fans.

Things can go one of two ways, Adelaide can pull a rabbit out of the hat (unlikely) or Victory can put them to the sword (very likely).

Postecoglou-s side have been clinical of late taking 13 of a possible 15 points from their last five matches while scoring nine times and they hold all the cards when it comes to players who have scored in this fixture.

Archie Thompson leads the all-time list on 10 goals against Adelaide, in part thanks to a heroic Grand Final performance back in 2007, but Marco Rojas has also bagged two against Adelaide, while Marcos Flroes has also scored in the fixture albeit for Adelaide.

The message is simple, if you don-t have Archie or Kiwi Messi in your team, get them this week and stack up on Victory players, because this one could be a romp.

Team of the Week: The highest-scoring, cheapest team in a valid formation.

Formation 3-4-3 | Total points = 278

Mark Paston (WP 14), Manny Muscat (WP 14), Andrew Durante (14), Mark Milligan (MV 20), Mateo Poljak (WSW 18), Iain Ramsay (AU 16), Jeremy Brockie (WP 22),Youssouf Hersi (c) (WSW 88), Ryan Griffiths (NJ 26), Mark Bridge (WSW 24), Besart Berisha (BR 22)

Finally congratulations to our weekly winner Nick who manages Nick-s Hyundai Select who scored 196 points thanks to having Youssouf Hersi as his captain. Het gets 100 bucks from VISA for his effort. Meanwhile the Eungai Eels have extended their lead at the top of the table and are looking increasingly hard to catch.
