After going within touching distance of their first A-League silverware last season, Melbourne City have a chance to make a major statement in a Round 1 Grand Final rematch.
French supremo Erick Mombaerts has handed over the coaching reigns to his former assistant Patrick Kisnorbo and revenge will be on the minds of the Bundoora boys when they take the field against defending Premiers and Champions, Sydney FC, at ANZ Stadium.
The arrivals of Andrew Nabbout, Aiden O'Neill and Ben Garrucio are sure to make City's talented squad even stronger but – with a trip to Adelaide in Round 2 – last year's second-placed side will need to be careful not to end up suffering from a Grand Final hangover to open their campaign.
