Football Federation Australia (FFA) today announced that four of Australia’s top FIFA18 E-League competitors will be at the Melbourne Esports Open (www.melbourneesportsopen.com.au) which will be held at Melbourne & Olympic Park from 1-2 September.
Marcus Gomes (@MarcusGomes_ - Melbourne City FC), Mouad Zwed (@MuadZwed - Melbourne Victory), Peter Saisanas (@saisanasp- Perth Glory) and James Williams (@CripsyAU - Brisbane Roar FC) will be at the FFA’s E-League stand across the two day of the event and will take on fans in the FIFA18 Free to Play Mode.
The inaugural E-League season in 2018 was a raging success with over 2 million viewers watching the action on Fox Sports and Twitch over the 10 weeks of the competition.
Sydney FC were the dominant team winning the E-League Premiership with Sameer Elbadar (@Samer96_) crowned the first E-League Champion which gave him a place at the FIFA 18 Global Series Play-Off Event, which is a qualification event for the FIFA eWorld Cup.
The Melbourne Esports Open, which is a collaboration of TEG Live, ESL Australia and Fairfax Events and Entertainment, is Australia's biggest celebration of esports.
This two day festival will be the first of its kind in Australia and will host some of the biggest games and players.
The huge weekend of esports competition and activities will featuring open tournaments from Fornite, Overwatch, Pokémon, Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros and many more!
The Overwatch Contenders Australia Season 2 Finals will be held on Rod Laver Arena on Saturday, 1 September, representing the finale of the premier Overwatch esports tournament in the Australia/New Zealand region.
Melbourne Esports Open will also play host to the League of Legends Oceanic Pro League Finals at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday, September 2nd, complete with giant videoscreens, full concert lighting and concert-level audio production.
