Pohang Steelers coach Sergio Farias is adamant his team will be looking for all three points in Wednesday's Asian Champions League match against Adelaide despite bringing just four of his regular starters to Australia for the match.
An extraordinary series of results is needed for Pohang to progress to the quarter finals, with the Korean champions trailing Adelaide by six points and Changchun Yatai by four points heading into the final two games.
Farias has admitted that his focus has now turned to the K-League, where the Steelers are currently fifth, but that this match gives him a good chance to see what depth he has in his squad.
"We are playing in the K-League back home and I can't risk that because this competition is not as important to us as the K-League," he said through a translator.
He said he expects his players to have plenty of motivation for the game, with spots in the team on the line.
"There are plenty of players in this team who are trying to earn their place in the team," he said. "Plus we are representing Korea, and that is always important."
Adelaide goes into the match without a few key players as well but has no choice in the matter. Angelo Costanzo is suspended, Cassio has suffered a serious knee injury while Bruce Djite remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Farias said that gives his side a better chance of reversing the result of the opening match of the ACL, which Adelaide won 2-0 in Korea.
"It does the compromise the team. Because they other players don't have the same rhythm as the players who have gone out, but I have no doubt Adelaide will fight for the win because it is important for it's hopes in this competition," he said.
