Two Hyundai A-League clubs flexed their muscles to move into the last four in convincing fashion on the opening night of Westfield FFA Cup quarter final action on Wednesday night.

An Adelaide United youngster made a name for himself with a stunning hat-trick, while the Sky Blues moved closer to a domestic treble.

NIKO’S TREBLE FIRES REDS

A Nikola Mileusnic-inspired Adelaide United eased into the semi-finals with a dominant 3-0 win over a courageous Heidelberg United at Olympic Village.

The speedy winger had a brace inside the first 11 minutes, the second goal a classy half-volley on the turn into the roof of the net.

The ‘Bergers – who knocked Perth Glory out in the Round of 32 – did their best to get back into the contest but the Reds made it safe on the hour mark.

Johan Absalonsen’s cross was headed back across goal by Karim Matmour with Mileusnic on hand to stroke it home.

SKY BLUES EXACT CITY REVENGE

In a rematch of last year’s Westfield FFA Cup final, this time it was Sydney FC that emerged victorious with a comfortable 2-0 win at Leichhardt Oval.

And it was two cracking goals which sealed the victory.

Dutchman Jordy Buijs curled in a wonderful free kick within seven minutes of the start before skipper Alex Brosque added a fabulous second with a classy lob.

But it was new signing Adrian Mierzejewski who stole the show with a sublime performance on his starting debut, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd when substituted late in the game.
