Having been in full training with the squad for two weeks, and having played with Carney previously, Brosque is hopeful that the pair can combine with the Sky Blues current attacking line up and deliver goals as the season nears conclusion.
“He [Carney] has been good,” Brosque said.
“The quality he brings in terms of touch and his vision when it comes to bringing the ball down and playing a pass, when you’ve got someone like that it just adds to our squad. We’ve been combining well in training and hopefully it translates to the pitch.
“There’s a few front guys, myself, Simmo, Smeltzy and George Blackwood and I think we each bring something different so hopefully they’ve all been doing their job and doing it well and hopefully it’s just a matter of me bringing something a little bit different.
“Hopefully we build on that and score a few goals,” he continued.
“I feel good, I feel strong and the hamstring feels very good. We’ve done everything to make sure it doesn’t go again.
“I’m looking forward to it now, only one day to go, it’s been a long road back from injury for me but for the last two weeks I’ve been training with the team and I’m really excited.”
With every point vital in the race for the Finals Series, Brosque stressed the need for a win on Saturday as he called on his squad to build on their attacking displays of late against Perth.
“We did well to pick up a few results in that mid-part of the season, a lot more than we did last season,” Brosque said.
“Being a home game tomorrow against Perth, we really need to take advantage of that and make sure we get the three points.
“We’ll do our homework like we do every week and see where we will shut them down. Being at home I don’t think there’s any specific key.
“I just think we need to show a lot of energy, our last home game against Brisbane here was great and very attacking and it was probably just that last 20 minutes that undid all our good work.
“If we play the same way, and hopefully pinch an early goal as well to settle the nerves, then I think we’ll be alright.”
Sydney FC take on Perth Glory in their next home match at Allianz Stadium on Saturday 13 February (kick off 5:15pm). Tickets are still available, get yours now!
